Hi and hello there, Cassie here from the newsroom. I've been out for a bit, but it's good to see my desk and plants again. Our editorial team likes to pass around this cute little pig for laughs and it looks like I'm his next host! Any idea what we should name him?

State mandates vaccines for hospital workers: Following last week's MMH employee vaccine mandate protest, the Colorado Board of Health has taken the decision out of the local hospital's hands by mandating COVID-19 vaccines for all hospital and health care workers.

All workers, support staff and direct contractors have to receive their first COVID shot by September 30 and the second one by October 31. Booster shots will also be required if recommended by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices.

In case you missed it: Montrose was host to Colorado District 3 representative candidates last Saturday at the Montrose Fairgrounds and Event Center.

The Montrose County Democrat Party hosted their annual "True-Blue" BBQ and silent auction as candidates spoke on their campaigns. Keep an eye out for a story on Pueblo-native candidate Sol Sandoval.

Today in history: Bobby Fischer became the first American to win the World Chess Championship since its inception in 1866, earning the title of "grandmaster" at 29, the highest accolade in the world of chess. The victory followed the highest title match ever played and marked the first time in 24 years that a non-Russian player won the title.
