Happy Monday to all! It's Katharhynn with a few thoughts for the day after a busy weekend. I hope you got out to enjoy the glorious weather! And how about the Tribute to Aviation? Montrose Regional Airport sure was a busy place Saturday and Sunday, with military and vintage aircraft on full display. We were in the throes of the pandemic at this time last year, so lots of events were canceled, including this popular (and free) one. It came back, better than ever! Friday was a big day for regional news, too. The Bureau of Land Management's primary headquarters is to revert to D.C., leaving a regional HQ in Grand Junction. U.S. Interior Secretary Deb Haaland's announcement brought cheers and jeers alike.
Take a gander at this beauty! This is a B-52 bomber, open this past weekend for tours at Tribute for Aviation.
In case you missed it: Stephen Woody, faithful columnist and former publisher, took a deep dive into the embezzlement of Montrose County School District money. Check out his opinion analysis here.
It is with sadness we report the death of Timothy Friendsuh, 55. He died when his biplane crashed outside of Delta on Sept. 17. The Delta County coroner confirmed his ID today. Our sympathies to his loved ones.
