Happy Tuesday! Cassie here with your daily newsletter curation. Did you know that the shiniest thing on Earth is the Marble Berry? Also known as Pollia Condensata, this berry is known to grow in Africa, but sadly isn't edible. What's so interesting is that the berry produces its metallic blue color not from pigmentation, but from nanoscale fibers on a cellular level. They are known to maintain their striking color for years after being picked!
Now on to the news!
New redistricting map drafts are released: My colleague, Anna Lynn, has been closely following updates regarding the upcoming redistricting maps. If approved, the newest draft released would include large changes to the 3rd Congressional District, which extends to Montrose. The updated draft would reincorporate Pueblo and the San Luis Valley, but would remove Boebert, who resides in Silt, from the CO-D3 district. The U.S. Constitution mandates that representatives live in the state they represent, but hold no requirements for residing within the same districts.
City Council is meeting tonight: City Council members are meeting tonight following their work session meeting this morning to discuss a number of ordinances and resolutions as well as to review Youth City Council applicants. The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. in City Council Chambers.
