Speaking of spring sports

This Friday starts the high school spring sports season.

The varsity boys swim team will host a meet beginning at 5pm on Friday and 10am on Saturday.

Girls varsity soccer has an open scrimmage at Sunset Mesa starting at 10 am on Saturday.

Winter sports playoff action this weekend.


The Lady Pirates of Olathe advanced in the 3A basketball playoffs. They will face off against Brush tomorrow at 6:30pm on the road.

In Delta County basketball action...

Delta Lady Panthers are heading to the 4A elite 8. In their first two playoff games they've outscored their opponents 171-79. They are heading to Denver to face Holy Family at 7pm on Friday.

North Fork Lady Miners will host Windsor Charter Academy also on Friday night in Hotchkiss at 7pm. They won the Western Slope Regional tournament last week by beating Grand Valley in the championship game 58-50.

Cedaredge has the lone boys team still in contention for a state title. They host Strasburg Friday night at 7pm.

The lady Bruins of Cedaredge are also hanging in there for the state playoffs. They will travel to Centauri for an afternoon game on Friday. Tipoff is at 3:30pm.
