Another week in the rearview ...

Jeremy Morrison
Weather is weird, right? There were days this past week that felt warm enough to pull the shorts out of their winter hibernation. Then Friday afternoon rolled around with it's cold rain and snow, leaving signs along the roadways shivering under a thin layer of spring ice. Such is the way as winter slowly fades through spring and we await the warmth of summer washing into the valley.

As we watch winter thaw into spring, local officials are watching the melting snow, concerned about the impact that runoff will have. This week, Katharhynn brought us what will likely be one of many snow-melt stories of the season, letting readers know about flooding at the Heritage Estates manufactured home park.

Spring is also a time that we celebrate students who are wrapping up their time in high school and looking forward to the next chapter of their lives. One of the stories Rhiannon wrote this week is about a group of local seniors who received scholarships — $6,000 in scholarships collectively — from the Black Canyon Rotary Club, and Cliff, who covers high school sports, relayed how local golfer Jake Legg landed a scholarship to play at Northeastern Junior College in Sterling.

Spring is also an active time in the state legislature. Kylea took a look at a housing bill causing a stir around the state, letting readers know what impact such a bill would have in Montrose.

And I doubt this is related to this thawing season, but late Friday we learned of ... the 'cosmic egg.' But I'm betting Katharhynn will tell you more about that one next week.

It was another week of news in Montrose. Some of it wet, some of it celebratory, some of it just plain weird. We hope you enjoyed reading all about it.

Enjoy the weekend,

Jeremy Morrison, managing editor
