Eyeballs & drive-bys ...

Jeremy Morrison
We typically find out the news before you. But only just before, so that we can relay that news — be it important, informative or entertaining — to you.

But from day to day, we learn the news pretty much as it happens or shortly thereafter. And though we map out our coverage, planning what stories we'll bring you and when, we still never know what entirely new stories will make their way onto the paper's pages.

For instance, Kylea's story last Friday regarding snowmelt is another vignette in a long-running saga that we knew was coming and I was looking forward to reading.

Katharhynn's story Monday about a drive-by shotgun blast that damaged a vehicle was, as are a lot of her stories, totally unexpected.

Meanwhile, Rhiannon's story Tuesday about Pomona students learning about ranching was a story I was expecting, but I was not expecting the sheep eyeballs.

Looking ahead, the stories we know about this week include some news about a lawsuit stemming from a denied gravel pit permit, as well as a look at the local mountain biking landscape. Who knows what other stories might pop onto the pages.

Have a Good One,

Jeremy Morrison, managing editor
