| | Bills, births and bikes Man, this has been a fun first half of the week in the office- at least for me. For one, I got to learn a bit more about Pirate Pete, the guy who used to own a Scuba shop here in Montrose before packing it all up to move to the Dominican Republic. No ragrets right? Not even a single letter. Don't worry, he can still help you get certified from afar. For our a&e page tomorrow I also got to know the artist and writer who has dedicated the last nearly 25 years of her life to telling the story of Chipeta and Native American tribes around the Southwest. And there's more to come. I spent last weekend, and will spend this upcoming weekend, on the mountain bike trails up north, and let me tell you, conditions were near perfect. So, we're planning on throwing a little guide your way on how to plan a trip to the desert to do some of your own biking. Similar profiles for other area trails are on the way too, because if I can spend my time writing about the outdoors, I'm absolutely going to. On a more serious note, I also plan to look into a bill that will help Western Slope universities expand innovative programs, and a program that helps pregnant mothers overcome opioid abuse. And one more thing about the children...UPK match day is coming up tomorrow. I plan to cover this too, and would like to hear about your experiences with the new system. Once everything goes down, feel free to shoot me an email about how the matching process worked for your family. Cheers for now, Kylea Henseler, Reporter kyleah@montrosepress.com I stopped on the Lunch Loops to take this quick pic, but don't worry; we have much better ones coming. Want energy?
