Water is sacred and alive Last Friday evening I attended one of the last events associated with the We are Water exhibit that has been showcased at the Montrose Regional Library these last few months. Flutist Bobby Jimenez was the speaker for this event, sharing stories about the importance of water as well as playing some of his original music on flutes he has made himself. It was the end of a long, busy week, and I found myself walking into the museum feeling rushed and exhausted. But when Jimenez started playing his flutes my breath began to slow down. As he talked about water — and those who do not have a reliable drinking source of it — I was reminded of what is truly important in our lives. By the time the event was over I felt more centered, more open, and more exhilarated by the cool evening breeze. Don't worry if you missed the event, you can read the full story here. Also, look forward to the museum's upcoming summer events, such as their annual Community Appreciation Festival, which will be held on June 10 this year. — Have a music filled weekend, RhiannonFlutist Bobby Jimenez playing original music at last week's We are Water event at the Ute Indian Museum, April 21.
