Feedback, delicious...

Jeremy Morrison
It's interesting, the feedback we receive on the stories we bring to you each day. Different readers can walk away from a single story with varying takeaways and opinions.

We got a letter to the editor over the weekend regarding a story written last week by Rhiannon Bergman about the local library board's discussion concerning the potential for removing certain LGBTQ-themed books from its collection (board members made clear they have no appetite for removing the material).

The letter writer — who expressed support for library board members — walked away from our story feeling like we should have given more ink to the First Amendment and the protections it offers. This is the letter writer's opinion and we're happy to hear it. We've heard from other readers over the course of this local discussion regarding the potential for removing certain books from the local library, each with their own takeaway and two-cents.

If you have a thought or two on one of our stories, or better yet, a thought about an issue of importance or interest to this community, please take the time to write us and let us know what you're thinking. This engagement — with us here at the newspaper, as well as with the community as a whole when your letter is published — makes for a healthy community dialogue and expression of a diversity of viewpoints.

Look forward to hearing from you ... telling us something you like about our coverage, letting us know something you don't particularly care for or turning us on to something new that we've yet to learn about.

Have a Good One,

Jeremy Morrison, managing editor

Minors mistakenly included on eligible voter list for Olathe Fire mill levy question
About 90 people who showed up on a roster of voters eligible to receive a ballot for Olathe Fire Protection District's upcoming mill levy increase should never have made the list: As 16- and 17-year-olds, they cannot vote, even though state law allows them to be pre-registered.
