WILL SCHOOLS HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT FUNDS? Lauren Brant wrote about the school district's latest board meeting. Overall, things aren't looking good for schools, but there are some funds available to help alleviate the strain from the lack of per-pupil funds. Those are Montrose County School District officials in the Zoom meeting in the image below.

WHAT'S IT MEAN? The Poynter Institute is a journalism training center in Florida, been around forever. It's highly regarded and often the place I go when I'm looking for answers, insights or to bat around the issues. It has a strong reputation. In this PolitiFact fact-check piece, they look at the term "Defund the police" and give us a better sense of what that actually means.

OPINION PAGE WOES: We got a call yesterday from a reader who was thinking about cancelling his subscription. Asked why, his main complaint was the opinion page. He wanted to see more conservative columnists and fewer progressives. Fair enough. We can reevaluate. But his thoughts were that the newspaper is slanting left. Besides the opinion page, our content is about 85 percent locally produced content. That content is free of bias and covers local issues fairly and accurately. (I know that because I asked him to point out where our local content showed bias, and he wasn't able to.) So, if you've got qualms with our opinion page, head to your keyboard and send us your letters about it, but it's not worth quitting the paper over. (The reader decided to stay with us for a while longer.)
