COUNTY COVID UPDATES are going to start coming less often due to the current downward trend in the number of cases. Montrose County confirmed 181 cases of COVID-19 in its Thursday night update. Meanwhile, Texas, Arizona and Florida are seeing surges in cases, which have been largely attributed to the states' accelerated openings. ON THIS DAY in 1982, NASA's Columbia space shuttle launched into space for the first time on a research mission. It was the first flight of the space shuttle program. The shuttle was used for more than 22 years, flying a total of 27 missions before it disintegrated upon re-entry in 2003 near the end of its 28th mission. KIDNAPPING OF TWO CHILDREN from their custodial guardian sparked a Montrose Police Department investigation into the incident. Three people were arrested Thursday night on suspicion of second-degree kidnapping. Formal charges are pending. SAY CHEESE because Monday is National Camera Day.
