MCSD updates: Northside Elementary School will temporarily transition to remote learning due to the increase of student and staff COVID-positive cases and lack of substitute staff coverage, Montrose County School District announced on Monday.
Olathe Middle and High School students were shifted to remote learning, after a routine inspection uncovered possible asbestos debris in the middle school ceiling.
The discovery was made Friday by an engineer contracted by the Montrose County School District. Testing Monday confirmed asbestos and the district is determining the extent of asbestos throughout the campus.

New CPW area wildlife manager: Rachel Sralla channeled her love for the outdoors into a career that has seen her become one of the few women in the management ranks for Colorado Parks and Wildlife's wildlife divisions.
Sralla, who has worked for CPW since 2012, came aboard as the area wildlife manager for Montrose last August, filling a vacancy left by the retirement of Renzo Del Piccolo.
