Organization bringing support groups to Montrose for families dealing with mental health issues: The National Alliance on Mental Illness — Western Slope (NAMI Western Slope) will begin hosting monthly support groups starting on March 17.

"The amount of pain, suffering and angst people have right now is overwhelming," NAMI Western Slope Executive Director Kevin Barclay said. "Our goal is to reach as many people as we can who are isolated or isolating within themselves."

School standardized tests up in the air: The Biden administration announced yesterday that public schools will still be required to administer standardized tests to students, although they will not be held accountable for the results of the tests. Colorado is joining other states such as California, Georgia and Illinois in challenging the decision.

The congressional investigation last month's deadly insurrection is starting today
Three top Capitol security officials who resigned following the riot testified at the public hearing today. (Watch a recording here.) They emphasized that they could not have been prepared for the riot based off the intelligence they were provided.

This is the first of at least two public investigations into the deadly events of January 6. Another hearing in a couple weeks will examine the role of federal agencies in the response.
