Housing and rent support: After allocating more than $35 million in state and federal relief funds in 2020, to help prevent foreclosures and evictions, the Colorado Department of Local Affairs (DOLA) announced it had awarded $1.2 million for affordable housing in January.
The efforts continued on a local level as DOLA, in January, awarded $650,000 to Artspace Projects to assist with the construction of 30 new units in downtown Ridgway. An additional $255,000 was awarded to Gunnison Valley Regional Housing Authority. The funds will help expand down payment assistance in assisting households that qualify In Gunnison and Hinsdale counties.

Search for 3 put on hold: High avalanche danger caused rescue teams to suspend the search for three people who were swept away in an avalanche Monday near between Silverton and Ouray.
The three individuals were part of a group of friends who were skiing in the backcountry near "the Nose," in the area of the Middle Fork of Mineral Creek/Ophir Pass.

More vaccines coming to Montrose: Locally, Montrose County is preparing to administer approximately 900 more doses of Moderna's vaccine against COVID-19, as it and counties across the state hope for increased supplies.
