Does the air feel celestial? Maybe it's just the upcoming eclipse

Image

Listen to "Celestial Sounds" on Sunday, a free concert by the Montrose Community Band, at the Montrose Pavilion.

Bring your eclipse glasses and join the band for an afternoon dedicated to the stars, planets and outer space!

All this leads to the main event, which is, of course, Monday's solar eclipse. Colorado will only see a partial solar eclipse starting around 11:30 a.m. (with max partial eclipse at 12:41 p.m. in Fort Collins). The eclipse will end around 1:30 p.m.

If you want to join your fellow earthlings in a noontime eclipse viewing, check out Centennial Plaza!

From 11 a.m.-2 p.m., the plaza will host "Get Mooned at Centennial Plaza: An Alien Disco." There will be live music, food trucks, turns at a solar telescope from Black Canyon Astronomical Society, activities for the kiddos and free eclipse-viewing glasses (while supplies last). Disco, alien or disco-alien costumes are most definitely encouraged.

If you see the MDP crew around Centennial Park on Monday, be sure to say hi!

Karaoke and 80s night anyone?

Image

On Sunday, the Montrose Elks Lodge is hosting "80s Night!" from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., featuring The Dirt, an 80's tribute band.

Admission is $10 at the door, with a spaghetti dinner to boot. Children under 12 dine for $5.

Keep the fun going with karaoke at Magic Circle Theater. The music starts up at 7 p.m.
