What does it take to tell a story? Last week, our new arm MDP Events hosted our second night of 5 Point on the Road film programming. We had a nice turnout, though not quite as big as our first event which required us to pull extra chairs off the balcony at The Temple. After doing these two events we've received a great response, and in the future we're hoping to screen more 5 Point reels as they're released as well as hosting events curated by our own team. The films we showed feature stories of human awesomeness, set in beautiful and sometimes dangerous backdrops. One question we got was: How are these things made? In this week's Outdoors section, we explore just how adventure filmmakers get the perfect shot and go on to make these passion projects beloved by outdoor enthusiasts. Many are adventurers first and photographers second- they often have to be to get into the places they need to shoot from. In the article, we look at how adventure filmmakers from Colorado and beyond go about telling these stories, from getting in deep water to film surfers to getting subjects to open up about the intimate details of their lives. If that sounds interesting, be sure to check out Saturday's paper and stay tuned for more MDP Events movie nights! Cheers, Kylea A still from "2 Legs is 2 Easy," shot in the Roaring Fork Valley.
